What Is an EMI Calculator?
An EMI (Equated Monthly Installment) calculator estimates the fixed monthly payment required to repay a loan — such as a home loan, car loan or personal loan — over a chosen tenure at a given interest rate. Each EMI includes both a principal and an interest component.
Why EMI Stays the Same Each Month
Lenders design EMIs so the total payment is identical every month, even though the mix of principal and interest changes over time: early payments are interest-heavy, while later payments repay more principal.
Example Calculation
A loan of $300,000 at 8.5% annual interest for 20 years works out to an EMI of about $2,603 per month, with total interest of roughly $324,833 over the loan term.
