Count words and characters deliberately
Use the word counter to estimate document length and reading time. Use the character counter when spaces, line breaks, or a field's character limit matter more.
Different systems can count differently
A visible emoji may consist of several Unicode code points. A platform can enforce a byte limit, a UTF-16 limit, or a visible-character rule, so its count may differ. These tools explain their counting convention instead of promising an exact match to every publishing platform.
Reading time is an estimate, not a deadline. Technical vocabulary, tables, and the reader's familiarity can change how long a passage takes to understand.
