What Is an Age Calculator?
An age calculator works out the exact time that has passed between a date of birth and a target date — usually today. Instead of a rough "years old" figure, it breaks the result down into complete years, months and days, and totals the elapsed time in different units so you can see it from every angle.
How Age Is Calculated
The calculator compares your date of birth to the target date by counting complete years first, then complete months within the remaining period, then the leftover days. This calendar-aware approach automatically accounts for months of different lengths, so a birthday on the 31st is handled correctly even in months that don't have 31 days.
How Leap Years Affect Age
Leap years add an extra day (February 29) roughly every four years. Because this tool calculates age using real calendar dates rather than a fixed 365-day year, leap days are automatically included in the day and total-days counts without any special handling required from you.
Calculating Age on a Future or Past Date
Use the optional "Calculate Age On" field to find out how old someone was — or will be — on any specific date, such as a policy start date, a graduation date, or a future anniversary.
Example Calculation
If you were born on 15 March 1995 and calculate your age on 20 August 2026, the result is 31 years, 5 months, 5 days — equal to 377 total months, 1,640 total weeks, and 11,481 total days.
