Choose a format for the job
JPEG is useful for photographs when transparency is unnecessary. PNG preserves sharp graphics and transparency, but can be larger for photos. WebP supports transparency and adjustable quality; check that the app receiving your image accepts it. Conversion is more than changing a filename: this tool decodes the image and creates a new file in your chosen format.

- Select the output format. Adjust the maximum dimension if you want a smaller image.
- For JPEG or WebP, choose quality. For JPEG, choose the color that replaces transparency.

Common Use Cases
What changes during conversion?
The image is redrawn using your browser’s canvas encoder. Original EXIF, GPS, camera, and other file metadata are not copied into the new file. The browser may add its own encoding metadata. Color profiles and browser color handling may change appearance, so inspect color-critical work. Re-encoding JPEG or WebP can lose detail even at high quality.
Supported files and limits
Still PNG, JPEG, and WebP files up to 50 MiB, 8,192 px per side, and 40 megapixels are supported. Animated PNG and WebP are rejected so animation is not silently lost. GIF, SVG, HEIC, RAW, and multi-page formats are not supported. Encoding availability depends on your browser; if WebP export is unavailable, the tool asks you to choose another format instead of giving a mislabeled file.
